HURRICANE - Hundreds of people near Hurricane lost power after a tractor-trailer accident Wednesday evening.
As of 6:30 p.m., more than 500 people were still without power.
The tractor-trailer from the U.S. Foods toppled four power poles on Virginia Avenue near the intersection of Benedict Road just after 5 p.m., Putnam County dispatchers said.
No one was hurt in the crash.
While Appalachian Power says power should be restored by 2 a.m., dispatchers say that's highly optimistic due to the damage in the area.
Three or four AEP crews are on the scene of the crash working to restore power. The Hurricane fire and police departments as well as the Putnam County Sheriff's Department responded to the crash.
