There will be one more candidate in the race for Putnam County Commission in the upcoming election, according to documents from the Putnam County Clerk's office.
Dorrel Wayne Arthur, who goes by "D.W. 'Peachie' Arthur," announced he will be running for the open commissioner spot as an independent candidate.
Arthur previously served as Putnam County Assessor from 1997 to 2008. He ran against Sherry Hayes in the 2012 election, but lost by a little more than 6,000 votes.
Arthur ran as a Democrat in the 2012 election. He also was a registered Democrat when he ran for Assessor in 1996 and won.
Arthur will be competing against Republican candidate Ron Foster and Democratic candidate Mark Whitt for the seat being vacated by outgoing commissioner Joe Haynes.
